Don't tell me it's not straight

I've finally managed to hang Darwin! (and even iron him, I'm being such a good girl today) It's been such a long time between finishing it and buying a frame that it now has a partner, and a third one drafted. I'm hoping to fill the gap in the centre with Dorothy Parker.

The partner features fun metallic brown threads (and by fun I mean...) and little flowers. I must have come up with the idea when the balcony was looking less ravaged by winter and more bountiful and beautiful.

The missing link

Posting yesterday reminded me of all the stuff around the house that I made but never managed to post about. Probably because it was ordinary, probably because moving in here and making the rooms nice took some time, probably because I never think I'm worth it. But there is lots of stuff round here that I've made and that I'm proud of. This one sits on top of yesterday's desk. It's my 'Bitch In Kitchen' sampler from Subversive Cross Stitch. It's framed in a plain black number from incredibly subversive BHS and stitched in imposing black cotton with delicate DMC linen love hearts.

Sample Science

Darwin in my boyfriends favourite scientist. He changed the world, he watched nature, he was a nice bloke and they both did badly at Cambridge. This year marks his 200th birthday and the 150th anniversary of the publication of the Origin of Species. A number of things are happing in the UK. The boyfriend has been enjoying the specials on the BBC. I designed this Darwin sampler two nights ago and have been stitching furiously since. Boyfriend is very happy with it and we're going to hang it in the office. I like it too. I was thinking of offering it for sale, possibly as a series. What do you think?
